Volunteer Opportunities
One of our most significant needs is for volunteers. Many people often comment that they are not sure what they can do at the museum therefore, in response to this we have developed a short list of opportunities. This is not a comprehensive list and if you feel you may have other skills to offer, or have special interest in individual artifacts or exhibits, please feel free to call the museum.
Volunteers can:
Assist in sorting and cataloging photographs
Catalogue newspapers and other paper items
Assist in designing exhibits
Carpentry skills are always welcome
Create signs for exhibits and individual artifacts
Collaborate in museum cleaning
Provide assistance with cataloguing collections into computer software
Photograph artifacts for digital accession record
Provide tours for visitors
Document oral histories of museum artifacts
Aid museum staff during special programs throughout the year
Assist in program development
Support museum membership and fundraising activities
Sewing skills are very desirable
This is not an exhaustive list and there are many other needs that volunteers can fulfill. There is no minimum time commitment or set number of days required. If you feel that you may be able to offer a single hour, a full day, or possibly a steady number of hours or days to the museum please call us at 563-933-4615. We appreciate your continued support for the museum.

On Monday October 26, the museum gratefully received grant funds from the Upper Mississippi Gaming Corporation. This funding will be used to purchase Past Perfect software, external hard drives, a digital camera, and a background. We will utilize this equipment and software to create a digital accession record of museum artifacts. We would like to thank the Upper Mississippi Gaming Corporation for the opportunity to improve museum operations and provide enhanced visitor programs and experience.
